Yellowstone Recovery
Yellowstone Recovery is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Orange County, California. We provide a safe place and a plan of recovery for individuals battling addiction. For over 25 years Yellowstone has provided compassionate addiction treatment services to women and men. We help these individuals to reclaim their lives and transition back into being productive members of society. We facilitate comprehensive individual and group treatment to provide a safe space to process our clients’ struggles. Yellowstone operates on a sliding scale fee assessment process all the way down to full scholarships to those most in need.
The greatest barrier to those searching for treatment is financial limitations, especially for women. Women, in general, are more likely to overcome barriers such as lower income, lower rates of employment, and less access to education. Women may also have less familial support as they see more discrimination and stigmatization for their substance use. We provide as many scholarships as possible to these women but are limited based on the amount of donations we can bring in each year. Our annual goal is to fully fund two beds for scholarships each year, but this falls far short of the needs of our community.
Yellowstone provides services to anyone in need including women and men that were previously incarcerated, are currently on probation, parole, or homeless, and those who have experienced deep trauma
Yellowstone is unique as a non-profit as our facility is 95% staffed with individuals in recovery, the only exception being licensed therapist or clinicians. Additionally, 90% of our staff are graduates of the Yellowstone program who came in just like every new client who walks through our doors. We maintain a 2:1 client to staff ratio and as a team we provide our clients with a full program of recovery services from detoxification and stabilization to sober living and aftercare. We have helped over 10,000 men and women take the first steps toward sobriety.
Yellowstone facilities are licensed and/or certified by the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), accredited by The Joint Commission, and certified Medi-Cal providers.* To determine the effectiveness of our treatment programs Yellowstone follows up with all clients that leave the program for the first year using the Encyrcle software platform. This platform keeps us in constant contact via text message with those who have left to provide ongoing support, assess program efficacy, and bring these women and men back to celebrate their accomplishments or provide more services when necessary. These alumni come back for holiday events, fundraising events, to scholarship those new to the program, and to volunteer by giving back. Yellowstone has an outstanding rate of ongoing engagement of 35% where the industry average is just over 12%.
Yellowstone benefits the world by helping criminals to reform, putting sober drivers behind the wheel, and reducing homelessness in our community. Yellowstone on average provides treatment to 430 individuals annually but can only provide about 5.5% of those we help with full scholarships.
Yellowstone’s most urgent need is the funding for more scholarship beds. Our set costs mean that keeping one bed open for scholarships year-round is $60,000. Yellowstone through generous donations can consistently keep two of these beds open but it is not enough. Our goal is to fund and scholarship a full 6 bed house for women year-round.
